Welcome to Dry January 4 the Curious, Sober Curious. Sober Black Girls Club’s guided month of exploration designed for women who are sober-curious, new to sobriety, or simply interested in trying something different this new year. Whether you’re here to reset, reconnect, slow down, or really see what sobriety can feel like, you’re in the right place.

This challenge is compassionate, structured, and community-centered, giving you the space to explore a sober lifestyle without pressure, perfectionism, or shame.

About This Challenge

Dry January 4 the Curious, Sober Curious is designed to give you a real, accessible taste of sobriety. The clarity, the energy, the quiet confidence, the powerful sense of self-trust, and the grounding that comes when you intentionally pause alcohol.

This is not about labeling yourself.
This is not about forever.
This is not about getting everything “right.”

This is simply a guided exploration. A chance to satisfy or deepen your curiosity while connecting with a supportive community of women who get it.

What You Can Expect

Stay Sober Throughout January

Commit to 31 days alcohol-free, with the understanding that we are exploring, learning, and growing. No shame. No punishment. Just support.

Complete Activities on the Curiosity Board

We’ll provide a fun, reflective, engaging activity board to help you experiment with new habits, routines, and moments of joy that don’t involve alcohol. Do a little or do a lot. The point is to explore.

Attend Weekly Meetings (optional)

Every Friday at 6:00 PM CT, we will gather virtually for connection, community, honesty, and support. Expect conversations, check-ins, tools, and reflections.

Check-in Daily on Slack

Check-in daily under the daily accountability post. You can share what you’re learning, wins and challenges, as well as what shifts you’re noticing. You can also simply note that you made it through another day alcohol-free.

Enter Giveaway

Stay sober, attend at least one Friday meeting and check-in at least five times each week to automatically enter our giveaway. The selectee(s) will be announced at the end of the challenge.

Attend Vision with Mocktails (optional)

At the end of the month, we’ll gather to reflect, celebrate, dream, and toast with delicious mocktails at our virtual Vision with Mocktails Party.

Why Join?

A Note Before You Start

We know some folks may want to go all-out in December as a “last hoorah” before Dry January, but we’re inviting you to skip that this year (or gently taper down). This challenge is about exploring, noticing, and tuning in. You’re going to need your energy, your clarity, and your presence to get the most out of this experience - not to recover from a hangover. Also, please note that sudden alcohol changes can carry medical risks. We encourage you to speak with your doctor or primary care provider before starting Dry January.

Come into January with openness, not exhaustion.
